Over 150 MS and AL county, state and other municipal items were sold to the highest bidder over the last two days from the corporate headquarters of Jeff Martin Auctioneers, Inc. This auction featured a wealth of state and county units and these units had exceptionally high bidder participation. Prices on heavy construction equipment, particularly hydraulic excavators, saw a sharp price improvement from last month. Factors driving these prices include the proximity to the spring construction season as well as continued low fuel prices. Vocational trucks from all different types of sellers out-performed the pre-auction estimates and were sold to states as far away as Montana and California. Heavy haul, late model dump trucks held their own with 21 units selling in excess of $100,000 each.
Internet bidding was strong, with market leader Proxibid hosting 867 bidders from all over the world. Jeff Martin Auctioneers, Inc. was celebrating their 10th year of conducting auctions in South Mississippi and showed their appreciation for the strong local market. Give-away items included branded Yeti cups, whiskey barrels, camo coolers and even a large Hercules Gun Safe to the grand prize winner. If you were not able to make it to Brooklyn, MS this weekend, you don't to have to wait too long – they will be hosting a retirement auction for Rutledge Contractors in Tupelo, MS on Thursday, March 12th.
